Welcome to Operation Freedom Bird

Welcome to Operation Freedom Bird's Building Blog! All of our children have left the nest and it's time for us to celebrate! How? By converting a school bus into a weekend tiny HOME! This is our Skoolie project! You can follow our transformation adventure here, through Facebook and Instagram!

Skoolie n. (from the Urban DictionaryA school bus that has been purchased by a private owner and converted for some purpose other than hauling people around, such as RVing. Can be a very economical, cost-efficient means of obtaining an RV.

Thus, we started our adventure. At first, we were looking for a motorHOME. Something we could afford and use right away but everyone wanted way too much! or it had mold, was the wrong layout, or had delamination. It was horrible!

Delimitation v. is a mode of failure for composite materials and steel. In laminated materials, repeated cyclic stresses, impact, and so on can cause layers to separate, forming a mica-like structure of separate layers, with significant loss of mechanical toughness.

We finally gave up and decided that buying an old school bus was not only within our budget, but then we could design it however we wanted! Thus, the search began! We searched OK, NYC, FL and TX ... it was a difficult search! We researched and researched into early morning. How do we do this? Is this possible? What's that?!

Pony Wall Update, First Coat of Paint

We eventually moved Freedom into the barn, to just make sure she didn't get rained on. This got me out of the sun and more able to work....
